A rollicking journey through the life and times of one of Australia’s greatest tennis players. 

Written by award-winning Australian playwright Kieran Carroll and performed by three-time Barry Award nominee and star of recent hit film The Merger, Damian Callinan, NEWK traces the life of the great Australian tennis champion of the 1960s and 70s, John Newcombe. 

Damian Callinan is a multi-award-winning comedian, actor and writer. He is best known to audiences as the lead actor, screenwriter and co-producer of The Merger, the feature film adaptation of his one man show of the same name. You may also recognise his dial from his work on Skithouse, Before The Game and Backyard Ashes, as well as regular guest appearances on shows such as Spicks and Specks, the Melbourne Comedy Festival Gala, Rosehaven and The Newsreader.
